Re: Have you stood/sat in every part of the Boleyn ground?
Great memories reading through the thread. Made me check when my first visit to the Boleyn was, 9th October 1971 a 1-1 draw against Leicester. Remember pushing my way to the front of the South Bank taking in the smell of fried onions, stale beer and cigarette smoke the roar of the crowd was like nothing i had ever experienced before. Looking towards the North Bank everyone in there seemed to have their arms aloft constantly clapping. Happy days but, it was a sad day the bull dozers moved in ( May 1993 ) to tear the South Bank down. God only knows how we all feel come May this year after the final game.

Re: Have you stood/sat in every part of the Boleyn ground?
I've been in every part of the ground, old and new, including the proper chicken run. I've also been in the directors box a few times as well as the press box, and against Southampton I was in an exec box for the first time, so I feel like I've got a full house.
But I have an advantage as I've been going since '62.

Best place to watch for me has always been the chicken run, particularly when it was terracing and pre-new west stand when it was inches from the pitch.

Worst places to watch, back of the upper west and back of the lower Trev.

Everywhere but standing in the old Chicken Run.
Stood mainly in the North Bank, a few times in the South Bank.
Sat everywhere

Re: Have you stood/sat in every part of the Boleyn ground?
I been all over, but not the wooden Chicken Run....bit before my time, that.

Completed the new ground three years ago on NYD v Norwich when I took my kids in STB Upper.

Tickets were easy to get anywhere in the ground for this Wolves match when I called the first morning of general sale. I had no hesitation....had to be East Lower, or the Chicken Run, as it's still called. That's the only bit of the ground that is still them same stand as when I first went, and this may well be my last game at the BG.

Re: Have you stood/sat in every part of the Boleyn ground?
I've sat/stood in all areas of old ground and in the new stands I don't think I've ever been in Brooking Upper but have done everywhere else.

Re: Have you stood/sat in every part of the Boleyn ground?
I started on the north bank, but the lure of being able to scream "COME ON THEN, YOU FUCKING CUNTS" (safe in the knowledge that there was ten feet of 'no man's land' between myself and the enemy) at the away support, was a to irresistible and I became a 'south banker'. I watched Ray Srewart's testimonial from the west upper and watched the Kidderminster Harriers 'beam back' in the lower tier of the same stand. I stood on the chicken run for the Bobby Moore testimonial, but I've never sat in the east upper.

As for the new stands, I've done the Bobby Moore lower and upper, the Sir Trev lower and the Dr. Martens - as it was called then - lower.

Re: Have you stood/sat in every part of the Boleyn ground?
Started in the West Stand upper, a friend of a friend was a bond holder & was too sick to go, had 2 seasons right next to the Directors box.

Got my own season ticket West Stand lower, front row, 6 seats from the dugout, was quality.

After 4 years I moves to BM upper with mates, better atmosphere.

Had seats in the Chicken Run for a few cup games etc, proper time warp over there!

I think it was the 92-93 season when we was promoted and we played Newcastle

They gave the barcodes the home end allocation of the old south bank the smaller section normally given to the away fans was given to us got tickets there and stood next to the dividing fences . . .funny watching our fans and theres constantly growling at each others, ha ha ha . . then the police move in through the crowd . . . and someone knocks old bills helmet off " lets go fcuking mental"

North & South Banks were great . . always up the bank centrally behind the goal, got taken to the chicken run as a kid ?!?!?!

Best view is prob East and West stands by the half way line prob upper tier?

Good to move for progression, shame the stadium isn't built for atmosphere like the Boleyn !!!
